Cameron Scott primarily specialises in criminal law and advocacy, but also practices in estate and Testator's Family Maintenance litigation. Cameron practices across Tasmania, and accepts briefs interstate.
Cameron was called to the bar in 2013 after working for a period as a solicitor-advocate in Melbourne. Since 2013, Cameron has developed his reputation as a respected, highly professional and talented advocate, appearing in all Tasmanian Criminal and Appellate Courts. Cameron is a graduate of the University of Tasmania.
Cameron's extensive legal knowledge of the criminal law, along with his experience, and talent for advocacy, make him a formidable criminal defence barrister. Cameron is often described as "heavily invested in the law", and works tirelessly to achieve the best possible results for his clients.
Cameron is passionate about the development of sound criminal law policy and evidence based reforms, and has served as a member of the Law Society of Tasmania's Criminal Law Committee since 2016.
Cameron is currently authoring a text book on the defences available under and preserved by the Tasmanian Criminal Code, as well as preparing a paper on the need for amendment of s194M of the Evidence Act 2001, which is a provision concerning evidence of prior sexual history in sexual assault cases.
